IBM 02XW568 is a factory-sealed LTO-9 data cartridge intended for enterprise backup and offline archival workflows. Part of the Ultrium family, it provides 18 TB of native capacity and up to 45 TB with typical compression ratios.
This media is engineered for LTO-9 Ultrium drives and tape libraries. Professional buyers must ensure target drives and library firmware are updated to support LTO-9 initialization, as older LTO-7 or LTO-8 controllers cannot write to this generation. Backward read compatibility follows standard LTO consortium rules, allowing LTO-8 and LTO-9 drives to verify content. The cartridge supports standard library barcodes and is formatted for sequential data placement in SAN or NAS backup targets.
Storage and handling protocols apply: maintain climate-controlled conditions, avoid exposure to magnetic fields, and verify that backup applications recognize the LTO-9 device class before first write. Cartridge lifecycle tracking should align with your retention policy and library slot mapping.
