Overview The IBM TotalStorage DS4000 EXP710 Fibre Channel Storage Expansion Unit available for selected DS4000 Midrange Disk Systems, expands the IBM TotalStorage DS4000 family by offering a new 14-bay, 2 Gbps, rack-mountable Fibre Channel (FC) drive enclosure. Enhancements include support for improved reliability and efficiency utilizing internal switch technology to attach to each disk drive within the EXP710 enclosure.  The new EXP710 can be used with the IBM TotalStorage DS4500, DS4400, DS4300 dual and DS4300 with Turbo Midrange Disk Systems that have been updated to the latest firmware level provided with the IBM TotalStorage DS4000 Storage Manager V9.10 or later. The EXP710 is designed to support the same 2 Gbps Fibre Channel Disk Modules available for the IBM TotalStorage DS4000 EXP700 Fibre Channel Storage Expansion Unit and can scale to over two terabytes (TB) of disk storage capacity per enclosure using the higher capacity Disk Modules. The EXP710 can be used with EXP700 Storage Expansion Units on the same DS4500, DS4400, DS4300 dual and DS4300 with Turbo Disk Systems.
