Overview |
The IBM TotalStorage Silo Compatible Tape Drive Frame can help increase the value of StorageTek ACS installations with IBM 3590 Tape Drive technology. It is designed to provide a migration path to greater performance while reducing the requirement for additional automation hardware. In addition, environmental and maintenance costs can potentially be lowered along with reduced floor space requirements. The Tape Frame can interoperate with StorageTek 4410 and 9310 ACS in IBM ^ zSeries and open systems environments, including selected IBM AIX®, Sun Solaris®, HP-UX®, Microsoft Windows NT®, and Windows® 2000 servers. The IBM TotalStorage Silo Compatible Tape Drive Frame can also be used with a growing number of open system servers that support native Fibre Channel connections as well as servers connected via the IBM SAN Data Gateway. The IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Drive 3590 Models E and H provide an uncompressed data rate of up to 14MB/sec, approximately 55 percent faster than the 3590 Model B. |
